Einladung: „Broken – A Palestinian Journey through International Law and Justice“ Film von Mohammed Alatar

Die Jüdische Stimme für gerechten Frieden in Nahost und „Palästina spricht“ laden zu einer Aufführung und Diskussion des Films “Broken” im Kino und in den virtuellen Medien ein. Die Veranstaltung wird technisch von der deutschen Verleihfirma des Films, EZEF, unterstützt, die im März eine Tournee mit M. Alatar geplant hatte, die wegen Corona abgesagt werden musste.

Der palästinensische Filmemacher Mohammed Alatar beleuchtet in seinem Film (2018) durch Interviews mit Richtern, die an die Entscheidung des internationalen Gerichtshofs in Den Haag 2004 über die Illegalität des Mauerverlaufs teilgenommen haben, sowie mit Völkerrechtsexpert*innen und Diplomat*innen juristische, politische und ethische Aspekte des Baus der Apartheidsmauer.

Die im Film geschilderten Aspekte und die Entwicklungen vor Ort zur aktuellen Lage werden anschließend kommentiert und diskutiert vom

Filmemacher Mohammed Alatar, der die Initiative für Frieden und Demokratie in San Antonio, Texas gegründet hat und durch seinen Dokumentarfilm „The Iron Wall“ weithin bekannt geworden ist, gemeinsam mit der

Rechtsanwältin Lea Tsemel, die 2004 mit dem Hans-Litten-Preis für die Verteidigung der Menschenrechte und Demokratie geehrt wurde und bekannt ist für ihre Verteidigung der Rechte von Palästinensern, und von

Michel Warschawski, einem Friedenaktivisten, Journalisten und Autor zahlreicher Veröffentlichungen, der lange Jahre der palästinensisch-israelischen Organisation „Alternative Information Center“ (AIC) vorsaß.

Die Veranstaltung findet am Montag, den 07. September 2020, um 18:00 Uhr im City Kino Wedding im Centre Français, Müllerstraße 74, 13349 Berlin statt.

„Broken – A Palestinian Journey through International Law and Justice“

Film by Mohammed Alatar

The Jewish Voice for Just Peace in the Middle East and “Palästina spricht” (the Voice of Palestine), invite you to a screening and discussion of the documentary “Broken” in a cinema and through online streaming. The event will be technically supported by EZEF, the German film distributor that planned a tour with M. Alatar on March which had to be cancelled because of Corona.

The Palestinian film director Mohammed Alatar examines juridical, political, and ethical aspects of the wall of apartheid through interviews with judges who took part in the decision of the International Court in The Hague declaring the route of the wall to be illegal, and with experts in international law and diplomats.

The aspects presented in the film and recent developments on site will then be commentated and discussed by film director Mohammed Alatar, who founded the Initiative for Peace and Democracy in San Antonio and became widely known through his documentary “The Iron Wall”, together with

lawyer Lea Tsemel, who in 2004 was awarded the Hans-Litten-Prize for defending human rights and democracy and is well-known for her defense of the rights of Palestinians, and

Michel Warschawski, a journalist, activist for peace, and author of numerous publications who for years chaired the Palestinian-Israeli „Alternative Information Center“ (AIC).

The course of the event:

The event takes place in City Kino Wedding in the Centre Français, 74 Müllerstraße, 13349 Berlin, on Monday, September 7, 2020, at 6 pm.

On September 7, 2020, the documentary (52 minutes long) will be screened in City Kino Wedding with German subtitles.
50 participants can watch the documentary on-site.
